Innovation is for Everyone

Innovation is for Everyone

Some refer to it as “innovation at scale”, it just means ‘everyone’. Be them in the organization or outside, familiar or strangers, they all can provide value in the innovation process. Simply have them join in the ideation phase or materializing one, every single person has value to add if only you would present them with a true opportunity to voice their thoughts.

🤗 Everybody can contribute value to the innovation process, especially in the idea generation stage.

Sometimes it’s the most quiet and least expected person in the room, and in some cases if you’re lucky that person is the one living through the challenge you are trying to solve. Have you heard the term “Bottom-up Participatory Innovation” before? It means the voices of the lower hierarchy of an organization reach the top. And this is critical because It’s usually the person who is living the problem, or shall I say challenge, that has the simple eureka moment answer you are looking for.

✨ People are full of surprises, and their enthusiastic energy is contagious. Embrace that, embrace all ideas and try to understand the other perspective.

Let them guide you, and when facilitating a session trigger them by navigating the thought process and asking questions. Like, what do you mean by that? Have you thought about this or that?

One common challenge is that when you’re facilitating, you’re actually analyzing the diverse perspectives. Not just that, you have to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and present one solid logical sequence.

🎨 Have the participants guide you to the answers and visualize it whenever possible. Visualizing ideas helps bring the room together, makes it easier to build upon.

In other words, it doesn’t matter who is participating in the process. Everyone can and should! Embrace people and you will be able to go from one step of the process to the next.
